GUIDELINES & RULES
The Victorian Slalom Technical Committee welcomes all paddlers, officials and spectators to the 2017 Victorian Slalom Championships to be held at the Goulburn River, Eildon.
This event is only possible with the commitment of many volunteers and the cooperation of canoeing clubs, the slalom technical committee and Goulburn-Murray Water. The organisers take this opportunity to thank those who support the event by acting as officials, helping with course erection and pack up and administering the event.

Goulburn River, Eildon
The event is held along the northern bank of the Goulburn River on land immediately behind the Bluegums Riverside Holiday Park and the Outdoor Education Group Properties located on Back Eildon Rd. The area can be accessed via the Bluegums Riverside Holiday Park and they offer various camping options for people camping over the weekend. There are also other accommodation options at nearby Eildon.
Please note; the park charges for a nominal charge for a day pass for car access into the park.

The Program for the Victorian Slalom Championships is subject to change at the Competition Organiser’s discretion. All competitors and officials should consult the Official Programme posted in the Compiling area at the race venue each day of the Event. Any changes made will be announced at the Briefing. Last minute changes will be broadcast during the course of the day.

Veterans Born in 1962 to 1971
Vintage Born in 1961 or earlier
Each paddler must nominate their intention to enter a team event at the time of entry – including payment of their component of the team entry fee. Nominative team entry details (i.e. the names of the Athletes in each team) must be provided, in writing, to compiling by 6:30pm on 2nd December 2017. Paddlers can only enter one team per Class.

7.1 Medals will be awarded for First, Second and Third Place based on the best result of the two runs.
7.2 Medals are only awarded for constituted classes.
Late Entries and Alterations to Entries
The Competition is qualifications and finals format. All entrants compete in qualification runs and top 10 will compete in the Final. Final to include top 10 Victorian plus any interstate paddlers, or 50% if less than 10 competing in Qualification round. The Competition qualification runs (2 runs) will determine the age group champions, while the final will determine the overall champion.
Paddlers not included in the A Final are invited to paddle in the “B” Final.
Interstate & International Athletes
Organisation & Safety
The competition schedule for the Event is subject to change at the Competition Organiser’s discretion. All competitors and officials should consult the official program which will be posted in the Compiling area at the race venue and listen for announcements.
Paddlers must present themselves at the Start area in body number order unless specific arrangements have been approved by the Starter after consultation with the Competition Organiser. There will be no allowance for boat sharing.
Random scrutineering will take place during the event at the discretion of the Competition Organiser.
Paddlers who do not return their bibs at the completion of day two (within fifteen minutes of posting of final results for the event in question) may NOT be eligible for medals and will be invoiced the lost bib fee ($100). Paddlers are responsible for ensuring their bibs are returned on time.
Should the event organiser cancel the event as a result of either of an external event, all entries paid (or committed to) will be retained by the Organisers – there will be no refunds provided.

This is not managed by the Event Organisers and, bar from the need to provide clear passage to the public, can be used at any time.
On-course safety is the responsibility of individual Clubs / States during training times.
It is important to recognize that the Eildon River is a public facility and recreational paddlers and rafters are able to traverse the course. Please ensure your groups are aware of this possibility and alert to the potential need to provide clear passage to these other groups when necessary.
